Delta Air Lines Flight 2204 returned to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on 8 August after the crew reported fumes in the flight deck, then evacuated on the taxiway using emergency slides. The Boeing 757-200 had been bound for Orlando and was carrying 199 passengers and six crew members.
The flight crew declared an emergency shortly after departure and turned back to Atlanta. After landing, passengers exited via slides while airport responders met the aircraft. Delta arranged replacement travel for customers later the same day, and one crew member plus one passenger sought medical attention.
The FAA is investigating the incident. The aircraft was taken out of service for maintenance evaluation, and the cause of the fumes has not been confirmed.
