Copenhagen Airport handled 3.2 million passengers in September, its busiest September on record, as traffic rose 4% year on year and remained close to summer-month levels. The airport’s strongest country market was Norway, while direct traffic to the United States also increased, underlining resilient demand well into the autumn travel season.
Commercial director Peter Krogsgaard said the peak season now extends beyond the summer holidays. Norway accounted for 270,000 passengers, followed by Spain with 255,000 and the UK with 245,000. London, Stockholm, Oslo, Amsterdam and Paris were the five most popular destinations.
Direct traffic between Copenhagen and the US rose 8% to 140,000 passengers, supported by stronger direct demand and more American visitors to Denmark. Copenhagen Airport expects about 1.1 million passengers during Denmark’s October school holiday period, with more than 115,000 travellers on the busiest days. Spain, Italy and France are the main southern European holiday markets for the break.
