Fraport expects Condor’s move to Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport in summer 2027 to give Lufthansa more room in Terminal 1. Lufthansa could make greater use of areas A and B and the C/D pier, while some smaller airlines may shift to area C or B East. The reallocation is intended to provide both carriers with more stands close to the terminal and reduce reliance on remote parking positions.
Condor’s planned growth would be difficult to accommodate in Terminal 1, where the airline currently operates. Fraport chief executive Stefan Schulte expects the move to support more efficient operations, improve handling quality and passenger satisfaction, and generate additional retail and restaurant revenue.
Those benefits are forecasts, not results already observed. Fraport and Condor confirmed the summer 2027 relocation, but the proposed allocation of Lufthansa areas and possible transfers by smaller airlines has been reported separately.
