Civil Air Patrol orders 21 additional Cessna aircraft

Civil Air Patrol has ordered 21 additional Cessna piston aircraft from Textron Aviation for emergency response, training and community missions across the United States. The order includes Skyhawk 172, Skylane 182, Turbo Skylane T182T and Turbo Stationair HD 206 aircraft, with deliveries expected to be completed in 2027.

The order comprises seven Skyhawk 172s, 11 Skylane 182s, two Turbo Skylane T182Ts and one Turbo Stationair HD 206. The aircraft will be produced at Textron Aviation’s facility in Independence, Kansas.

CAP uses its aircraft for search and rescue, disaster and emergency response, flight training, aviation education and youth or community programmes. The nonprofit organisation is the official civilian auxiliary of the US Air Force and the world’s largest operator of Cessna aircraft.

CAP leaders Maj. Gen. Regena Aye and Brig. Gen. R. Jason Bailey toured the Cessna piston-aircraft assembly operation in Independence. The order expands CAP’s existing fleet, but the value of the purchase, financing arrangements, individual registrations and deployment locations have not been disclosed.
