British Airways has selected Pratt & Whitney GTF engines for up to 63 Airbus A320neo-family aircraft, with 33 firm aircraft and 30 purchase options. The deal covers the carrier’s incoming single-aisle fleet and shifts a large tranche of narrowbody powerplant demand away from CFM. Engine deliveries are due to start in 2027, putting the first aircraft toward entry into service shortly after. The move adds another GTF line item for RTX at Farnborough and gives British Airways a new engine standard across part of its short-haul fleet, with implications for shop visit planning, spare-parts provisioning, and fleet commonality.
