Boston Logan International Airport has asked airlines to bring extra fuel on inbound flights after a forecast nor’easter blocked fuel ships from reaching Boston, prompting Massport to conserve Jet-A reserves through the weekend. The airport said it had enough fuel for the period ahead, but wanted carriers to tanker additional uplift as a precaution while storm conditions keep marine deliveries suspended.
The move comes as the same weather system is already disrupting operations across Boston Logan, with cancellations and delays expected as strong winds and heavy rain affect the region. Delta has separately loaded additional fuel on aircraft heading to Boston and used tanker trucks where possible to supplement reserves. Fuel deliveries are expected to resume once the storm passes, reducing pressure on the airport’s supply chain and easing the need for carriers to manage added weight and routing constraints in the interim.
