Boeing wins $14.7 billion contract to triple Patriot seeker output

Boeing has secured a seven-year contract worth about $14.7 billion to triple production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement seekers used in Patriot air defence interceptors. The undefinitised contract action from Lockheed Martin formalises an April framework tied to the company’s Huntsville, Alabama, seeker operation and allows work to begin while final terms are still being negotiated.

The seekers are the guidance component for the PAC-3 MSE interceptor, which is part of the Patriot air defence system. Boeing has already expanded its Huntsville site and increased hiring to support the ramp-up, with production set to rise alongside Lockheed Martin’s broader effort to lift annual PAC-3 interceptor output.

The contract follows a wider industrial push to expand missile-defence capacity for U.S. and allied forces. Boeing has invested more than $200 million in seeker production since 2024, and the company expects the programme to support hundreds of direct and indirect jobs in the Huntsville area. Final pricing and some other terms remain unsettled under the undefinitised arrangement.
