Berlin Brandenburg Airport handled 11.9 million passengers in the first half of 2026, down 1.2% from a year earlier, while aircraft movements fell 3.2% to 89,505, according to data from the Berlin-Brandenburg statistics office. The figures point to a modest weakening in demand and a somewhat sharper drop in operational volume at Germany’s capital airport.
The latest update shows BER remained well below its pre-pandemic benchmark. In the first half of 2019, Tegel and Schönefeld together handled more than 17.5 million passengers and around 145,000 movements before BER opened. The comparison highlights how far traffic at the capital region’s airports still sits below the peak seen before the network was consolidated.
For airlines and airport operators, the numbers suggest stable but softer utilisation through the first half of the year. Passenger traffic held close to the 12 million mark, but the steeper decline in movements indicates leaner scheduling or less capacity in the market.
