Archer Aviation plans to develop three electric air-taxi networks serving Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston, using its four-passenger, piloted Midnight eVTOL. The proposed services are intended to cut journeys that currently take 60 to 90 minutes by road to approximately 10 to 20 minutes by air, linking major airports with business districts, hotels, coastal destinations and event venues.
In Dallas–Fort Worth, the network would connect Dallas Fort Worth International, Dallas Love Field, Addison, Arlington Municipal, Fort Worth Meacham International and Fort Worth Alliance airports with business hubs including Frisco Station. Archer is working with Hillwood, founded by Ross Perot Jr., on the plans.
Houston routes are planned between George Bush Intercontinental, William P. Hobby and Sugar Land Regional airports, the Thompson Hotel helipad downtown and Galveston’s Island Jet Center. Austin services would connect Austin-Bergstrom International and Austin Executive airports with the Circuit of the Americas Formula 1 helipad.
The networks are intended to support future flights across the Texas Triangle through the Texas eVTOL Integration Pilot Program. Local aviation and infrastructure partners include Signature Aviation, Atlantic Aviation, Alliance Aviation Services, Modern Aviation and Henrikson Jet Center.
Archer has not provided a service start date. Midnight has yet to complete FAA type certification, and the company has not begun flights with the production-conforming prototype required for that process. The aircraft was scheduled for display at the United States Grand Prix in Austin from 22 to 25 October.
