Arajet plans to begin scheduled flights from the Dominican Republic to Venezuela in March or April 2027, subject to approval from Venezuelan authorities. Caracas is expected to be the first destination, with Valencia also under consideration. The Dominican low-cost carrier would operate the services with Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft from its Santo Domingo and Punta Cana bases, although no launch date has been finalised.
Communications Director Manuel Luna outlined the plan during the ALTA Airline Leaders Forum in Mexico City. Arajet is seeking authorisation from Venezuela’s National Institute of Civil Aeronautics, or INAC, while the Dominican Republic’s Civil Aviation Board has already approved the proposed routes on the Dominican side.
Arajet originally applied for six routes linking Santo Domingo and Punta Cana with Caracas, Valencia and Maracaibo. The proposed schedule comprised two weekly flights on each route, or up to 12 weekly services in total, using Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft. Maracaibo was not mentioned among the destinations discussed at the forum, leaving its participation in the initial network uncertain.
The airline had previously targeted a 2026 launch, but the plan was postponed. The latest timetable remains conditional on the Venezuelan permits; schedules, fares and the final destination list have yet to be disclosed.
