Aquila Air Capital has appointed David Crull as chief financial officer as the Ireland-based engine lessor expands its leadership team. Crull joins from Jackson Square Aviation and brings more than 25 years of experience across aviation finance, aircraft leasing, airline operations and investing.
Based in Dublin and backed by funds managed by Wafra Inc., Aquila framed the hire as part of its effort to strengthen strategic decision-making and support further growth. Crull previously served as chief investment officer at KP Aviation, chief financial officer at Aero Capital Solutions and AeroTurbine, and held senior financial leadership roles at Spirit Airlines.
The appointment comes as aviation lessors compete for executives with deep sector experience, particularly in engine leasing and asset finance. Crull’s background spans both operator and investor perspectives, a combination Aquila expects to use as it builds out its platform. Crull described the business as an impressive platform and signalled enthusiasm for helping to develop its next phase of growth.
