AnimaWings has entered judicial reorganisation after recurring technical problems forced the Romanian carrier to scale back its fleet and disrupt operations. The airline will continue flying with only its two Airbus A320 aircraft while six Airbus A220-300s are progressively taken out of service, leaving the carrier to adjust schedules to match available capacity.
The move follows repeated technical faults across the A220 fleet that reduced aircraft availability and affected sales, operations and finances. Reports on 29 and 30 September indicated that the disruption was already leading to cancellations and schedule changes, with further reprogramming possible in the following days.
AnimaWings has described the restructuring as a way to protect business continuity and restructure obligations in a difficult operating environment marked by higher costs, weak purchasing power and prolonged political instability. The carrier’s fleet totals eight aircraft, and the A220 grounding means the airline is now relying almost entirely on the remaining A320s while it works through the legal process.
