Alaska Airlines to expand Paine Field service with San Jose route and more West Coast capacity

Alaska Airlines will expand its Paine Field operation in Everett, Washington, lifting seat capacity by 50% from this fall through summer 2027. The network build-out will include a new twice-daily nonstop service to San Jose, California, from 14 April 2027, operated by Horizon Air on Embraer E175 aircraft, alongside added capacity on key West Coast routes.

The carrier will also increase flying to Los Angeles with twice-daily service on larger Boeing 737s, add a second daily Portland rotation, and boost seat availability on the San Diego and San Francisco routes. The changes extend Alaska’s presence at Seattle/Everett, where the airport serves as an alternative gateway for north Puget Sound and Seattle-area travellers.

The San Jose link restores a California route from Paine Field and strengthens access to the South Bay and broader San Francisco Bay Area. The wider schedule build-up is aimed at giving local passengers more frequency and more aircraft choice on short- and medium-haul business and leisure markets across the West Coast.
