Airbus has secured a firm order from Avolon for 110 aircraft, split between 35 A330-900s and 75 A320neo Family jets. The Dublin-based lessor’s latest deal lifts its total A330-900 commitments to 114 aircraft and takes its A320 Family order book to about 650.
Avolon tied the Airbus purchase to a broader fleet plan covering 250 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, with the full package still subject to approval by Bohai Leasing shareholders expected before the end of October. The transaction also includes 140 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and options for 100 further Airbus jets.
The order extends Avolon’s exposure to Airbus’s newest-generation single-aisle and widebody programmes at a time when lessors continue to prioritise fuel-efficient types for airline customers. For Airbus, it adds another sizeable commitment to the A320neo and A330neo families, both key pillars of the manufacturer’s backlog and production ramp-up plans.
