Royal Air Maroc to become the first African airline to offer Starlink

Royal Air Maroc has selected SpaceX’s Starlink to provide inflight Wi-Fi on 41 aircraft, positioning Morocco’s flag carrier to become the first African airline to offer the service onboard. Installation will begin progressively in early 2027, with free access planned for members of the airline’s Safar Flyer loyalty programme once their aircraft has been equipped.

The agreement covers flights linking Casablanca with destinations across Africa and international markets. Starlink’s satellite network is designed to provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity, enabling passengers to stream content, work online, communicate and access internet services during flight.

Royal Air Maroc has not disclosed which aircraft types or routes will receive the system first. The airline has also provided no timetable for completing the installation programme or details of pricing and access for passengers who are not Safar Flyer members.

The rollout forms part of a wider fleet and passenger-experience modernisation programme. Installation will take place in stages to maintain operational continuity, and Starlink connectivity is not yet available on Royal Air Maroc flights.
