Air India and Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines have launched an interline agreement that opens single-ticket itineraries between India and Bhutan, with through-baggage handling and coordinated transfers via Delhi. The arrangement connects Air India’s network with Drukair’s services through Delhi, while also giving passengers access via Guwahati and Kolkata, strengthening route options for travel to Paro and onward destinations in Bhutan.
The partnership is designed to simplify connections for both leisure and business traffic into Bhutan, while extending Air India customers’ access to Drukair’s domestic Bhutan services. Travellers on Drukair can connect into Air India’s domestic and international network, including long-haul routes to London, New York, Toronto, Frankfurt and Sydney. Air India also highlighted broader access across the SAARC region through its own operations and partner links.
For Bhutan-bound passengers, the agreement widens itinerary choice beyond point-to-point travel and reduces the need for separate bookings and baggage recheck. It also positions Delhi as the main transfer point in the combined network, with the added benefit of connectivity from eastern India through Guwahati and Kolkata.
