Air China has secured 15 additional Airbus A350-900 wide-body aircraft, part of a combined 55-jet order with subsidiary Shenzhen Airlines totaling $12.4 billion at list price. The A350-900s, valued at approximately $6.09 billion, will enter service between 2030 and 2032, while Shenzhen Airlines’ 40 A320neo narrow-bodies arrive from 2029 to 2032. This acquisition reinforces Air China’s capacity expansion and fleet modernization strategy, leveraging the A350’s superior fuel efficiency and long-range performance for premium international routes. The deal underscores Airbus’s growing dominance over Boeing in China’s aviation sector, with operators prioritizing next-generation aircraft to meet rising demand and emissions targets. Funding will combine internal reserves, commercial loans, and structured financing arrangements.
