Aer Lingus has accelerated its Starlink rollout, with free high-speed Wi-Fi now available on all transatlantic flights to and from Shannon after the first retrofitted Airbus A330, EI-EIN, entered service in March. The airline says the system can deliver download speeds above 500 Mbit/s, allowing passengers to stream video, work online and play games while airborne.
The connectivity upgrade is part of the wider IAG Starlink programme, which also covers British Airways, Iberia, Vueling and LEVEL. Aer Lingus has paired the internet service with Sport 24, the IMG live-sports channel, to broaden onboard entertainment options.
The move extends a live operational rollout rather than a future trial, although the carrier has not disclosed the full timetable for the rest of its fleet. It remains unclear which aircraft will be next or whether the Shannon transatlantic operation is the only network segment covered at this stage.
