A Jet2 Boeing 737-800 briefly moved off the paved runway while landing at Birmingham Airport on Sunday, 25 October, before returning to the runway and taxiing to its stand. Flight LS1310, operated by aircraft G-JZHE from Venice Marco Polo Airport, touched down on Runway 33 at about 14:19 local time as Storm Boelo brought strong and gusty winds to the United Kingdom. No injuries were reported.
Video footage shows the aircraft tracking towards the left edge of the runway after touchdown, with its left main landing gear apparently crossing onto the adjacent grass. The aircraft then regained the paved surface and continued to the parking stand, where passengers disembarked normally.
Jet2 attributed the temporary movement off the runway to exceptional weather conditions associated with Storm Boelo. The footage shows the aircraft’s path, but does not establish the control inputs or formal cause of the event. The precise technical circumstances and any possible aircraft damage had not been confirmed. No information was available on a runway closure, passenger numbers or whether the aircraft subsequently returned to service.
