Flughafen München has placed a new package of specialist vehicles into service at Munich Airport, including four Rosenbauer Panther 8×8 airfield fire engines. The fleet also comprises a hook-lift vehicle, an aircraft-recovery Bergedolly and a new incident command vehicle, all available for operations immediately following completion of the procurement. The equipment is intended to strengthen aircraft-firefighting and emergency-response capability.
The Panther 8×8 vehicles form the core of the new aircraft-rescue-and-firefighting capacity. The hook-lift vehicle provides additional logistical flexibility, while the incident command vehicle is designed to support coordination during complex emergencies. The Bergedolly adds dedicated equipment for recovering aircraft after an incident.
The vehicles are based at Munich Airport and expand the airport fire service’s specialist response and recovery resources. Munich Airport’s fire service operates from two stations and is responsible for protecting the airport’s runways, buildings, road and rail infrastructure, and fuel facilities. The latest procurement is focused on operational readiness across aircraft-firefighting, command-and-control and recovery tasks. Individual vehicle costs, delivery dates, stationing arrangements and whether the equipment replaces older units have not been disclosed.
