Aero-Dienst has taken delivery of the first of two CF34-powered Bombardier Challenger 650 aircraft for its German air-ambulance fleet. The aircraft will undergo modification for medical-transport operations after delivery, while a second Challenger 650 is expected to arrive in 2027 under the operator’s fleet-modernisation programme.
Aero-Dienst conducts patient-repatriation flights and transports more than 1,000 patients annually from overseas locations to Germany. The two new aircraft are intended to support the renewal of its dedicated air-ambulance fleet, although the first Challenger 650 had not yet entered medical-transport service at the time of the delivery announcement.
Both aircraft are covered by GE Aerospace’s OnPoint service agreement. The programme can include engine overhaul, on-wing support, parts, component repair, engine leasing and diagnostic services, providing support throughout the aircraft’s operational life.
The CF34 is widely used on business and regional aircraft, and its selection for Aero-Dienst’s Challenger 650s extends the engine’s application into dedicated air-ambulance operations. The delivery location and aircraft registration were not disclosed.
