BAE Systems has demonstrated a modified Malloy Aeronautics T-150 uncrewed aircraft intercepting multiple one-way attack drones during a single flight at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Designated the TRV-150, the aircraft fired laser-guided APKWS rockets from a production-ready three-pod launcher, engaging successive airborne targets without landing or reloading.
The trial took place in late September during the US Office of the Under Secretary for Research & Engineering’s Mission Capabilities Joint Readiness Experimentation exercise. BAE Systems’ FalconWorks division developed and integrated the APKWS modification kit, while Maryland-based SURVICE Engineering adapted the T-150 to meet US Army requirements. Malloy supplied the heavy-lift electric drone platform, which can carry up to 68kg of cargo.
APKWS converts unguided 70mm Hydra rockets into laser-guided precision weapons. The demonstration followed a 2025 trial in which an adapted T-150 fired a single precision munition and a May 2026 test involving the three-shot launcher and rocket-launch load compensation.
BAE Systems did not disclose how many targets were intercepted or rockets fired, and did not identify the targets or explain how laser designation was provided. The trial does not establish operational qualification, a production order, an entry-into-service date or procurement quantities. The company is now examining potential maritime applications for the rocket-armed system.
