Chery unveils two Lingxiao eVTOL concepts

Chinese car maker Chery has entered the electric vertical take-off and landing sector with two passenger-carrying concepts under its Lingxiao brand. Unveiled in Wuhu, Anhui, the two-seat Q212 targets urban missions with a design speed of about 120 km/h and more than 60 minutes of full-load endurance, while the five-seat J506 is intended for longer-range operations with a target speed above 350 km/h and range exceeding 1,000 km.

The Q212 uses an all-electric compound-wing configuration with lift-and-cruise propulsion. Its proposed mission set includes urban commuting, sightseeing and potentially emergency response. The J506 is a tiltrotor designed for passenger transport and has reportedly been developed with potential autonomous-flight capability, although both concepts are currently described as crewed.

The aircraft formed part of Chery’s wider push to extend its automotive technology into robotaxis, robotics, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy systems and low-altitude aviation. Aviation Week reported that Chery also revealed flight testing of a full-scale uncrewed Q212 prototype.

Chery has not disclosed a certification schedule, production timetable, commercial launch date, operator, customer or planned route. Public information on the programme remains limited, and neither aircraft should be considered certified, production-ready or commercially available.
