One resident was killed and eight people were injured when King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, was targeted in an attack on Wednesday evening, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed. The injuries ranged from minor to critical, while the airport sustained material damage whose extent remained under assessment. All injured people were taken to hospital.
GACA did not identify the weapon used, specify the nature of the attack or name those responsible. It also provided no details on whether airport operations, flights or facilities had been disrupted.
The incident follows an earlier attack on the airport on 11 October. Saudi airports have faced repeated attacks amid escalating hostilities involving Yemen’s Houthi movement, but no responsibility has been established for Wednesday’s incident. Authorities said further updates would be issued as damage assessments continued.
