CAE has launched Ready for Work, an online training platform designed to help newly qualified aircraft maintenance technicians transition into operational roles. Introduced during NBAA-BACE 2026 in Las Vegas, the programme combines structured online learning with on-the-job training, aiming to shorten the time needed for new A&P technicians to become effective in maintenance operations and reduce the supervisory workload on experienced staff.
The platform is intended for business aviation operators seeking a more consistent approach to developing entry-level maintenance personnel. It addresses the gap between obtaining basic qualifications and applying them in an operational maintenance environment, where newly qualified technicians still require guidance from experienced colleagues.
CAE’s initiative comes as the aviation industry faces sustained pressure to expand its maintenance workforce. The company’s aviation talent projections point to demand for 69,000 additional aircraft maintenance technicians worldwide by 2034. Ready for Work is positioned as a response to that requirement, although details on pricing, participating operators, course numbers, regulatory approvals, rollout timing and the aircraft types covered have not been disclosed.
NBAA-BACE 2026 is taking place in Las Vegas from 20 to 22 October.
