Ryanair will remove 20 routes, six aircraft and approximately 1.1 million seats from its Belgium Winter 2026 schedule, affecting Brussels South Charleroi Airport and Brussels Airport in Zaventem. The reductions, which begin with the winter timetable at the end of October, follow Belgium’s planned increase in aviation tax from €2 to €7 per passenger in January 2027.\n\nThe six aircraft, representing an investment of about $600 million, will be redeployed to lower-cost European markets, including Italy, Slovakia and Sweden. Ryanair’s Charleroi base will fall to 13 aircraft, with the changes expected to eliminate about 200 jobs.\n\nAt Zaventem, the airline will retain only its Dublin service. Reported route cancellations include Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga, Marrakech, Porto, Rome Fiumicino and Valencia. Charleroi is due to lose services to Amman, Asturias, Dubrovnik, Genoa, Katowice, Łódź, Newcastle, Nîmes, Poznań, Reggio Calabria, Sarajevo, Trapani and Warsaw-Modlin.\n\nRyanair has warned that a further one million seats could be removed from its Summer 2027 schedule if the higher tax remains in place. The route-level details have been reported separately from the airline’s announcement, which confirmed the overall reduction in Belgian capacity and the withdrawal of 20 routes.
