EASA Validates HondaJet APMG S Upgrade Package

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has validated Honda Aircraft Company’s APMG S upgrade package for HondaJet Classic and original APMG aircraft registered in the European Union. The approval enables operators to retrofit legacy twinjets with upgraded avionics, improved ground handling and a 300-pound (136-kilogram) increase in maximum takeoff weight, expanding useful-load capability and operational flexibility.

The package includes faster avionics hardware and software, the Advanced Steering Augmentation System introduced on the HondaJet Elite S, and graphical weight-and-balance functionality integrated into the Garmin G3000 flight deck. The steering system is designed to improve ground-handling precision and crosswind capability, while the revised avionics provide a platform for future technology enhancements across the legacy fleet.

Installations will be available through Honda Aircraft’s Greensboro, North Carolina, service centre and its global network of authorised service centres. In Europe, Rheinland Air Service in Germany will perform the modifications as a HondaJet authorised dealer.

The European validation also provides a defined upgrade path for the pre-owned market. Buyers can acquire an earlier-generation HondaJet and retrofit it, or select an aircraft that has already received the modifications. The programme has also received approval in the United States and Mexico, making it available to most of the global HondaJet fleet. Further international validation applications remain pending.
