Chorus Aviation agrees to acquire SkyCare Air Ambulance for C$40 million

Chorus Aviation has agreed to acquire SkyCare Air Ambulance, Northern Ontario’s largest private fixed-wing air-ambulance operator, in a transaction valued at approximately C$40 million. The deal would bring SkyCare’s 22-aircraft fleet and specialised medical-transport operations into Chorus’s aviation, aerospace and defence platform, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions.

Chorus will pay C$32 million in cash, while the remaining consideration will be payable by 31 March 2029 and will depend on performance targets. The transaction is therefore subject to customary adjustments and contingent consideration rather than a fully fixed purchase price.

SkyCare employs about 220 people and operates from Sioux Lookout, Thunder Bay and Kitchener in Ontario, as well as St. Andrews in Manitoba. Its fleet includes turboprops and business jets configured for air-ambulance and other specialised missions.

The operator provides round-the-clock medical transportation, including medical evacuations, repatriation, organ transport and regional medical services across Canada and on Canada-US routes. Chorus expects the acquisition to be immediately accretive to earnings and free cash flow after closing, while extending its activities beyond regional-airline operations into specialised aviation services.
