BER expands winter schedule as Eurowings and Wizz Air offset Ryanair withdrawal

Berlin Brandenburg Airport will introduce its 2026/27 winter schedule on 25 October, offering flights by about 70 airlines to 140 destinations in 50 countries. The programme includes new links to Baghdad, Vilnius, Pristina and Kuusamo, while Eurowings and Wizz Air increase their presence. Ryanair, however, will close its BER base on 24 October and withdraw 12 routes, roughly halving its offering from the airport.

Eurowings will serve 40 destinations in 17 countries from Berlin during the winter season. New services include Rome from 2 November, Bologna and Baghdad from 10 December, while Lisbon, Porto and Bilbao will operate through the winter for the first time. The carrier will also add Kuusamo and expand selected services to Nordic and Middle Eastern destinations.

Wizz Air will grow to 17 destinations in 13 countries. Its expanded programme includes Vilnius, Sarajevo, Milan Malpensa, Pristina and Suceava. The broader network will partly compensate for Ryanair’s reduction, but the loss of the Irish carrier’s Berlin base will leave overall capacity uneven across the market.

Other changes include Condor’s daily Abu Dhabi service in codeshare with Etihad, Qatar Airways’ return to three daily Doha flights from 1 November and Hainan Airlines’ deployment of the quieter Airbus A330-900neo on three of its five weekly Beijing services. London, Paris, Vienna, Barcelona and Mediterranean destinations remain among BER’s strongest markets, while Italy, the Gulf region and the eastern Mediterranean receive additional capacity.
