WCC Aviation Holdings to acquire 30% of PhilJets in move into business aviation

WCC Aviation Holdings has agreed to acquire a 30% stake in PhilJets Aero Services, expanding the Philippine group’s activities from aviation education, pilot training and airline operations into business aviation. The Manila-based company provides aircraft management, charter flights, maintenance and helicopter services, with the investment giving WCC a direct position in the sector. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The agreement was signed on 15 October by WCC Aviation Holdings President Dr Raymond Patrick V. Guico and PhilJets Chairman Thierry Tea. WCC’s aviation interests include WCC Aeronautical & Technological College, WCC Pilot Academy and regional airline Sky Pasada.

PhilJets supports business jets and helicopters in the Philippines and elsewhere in Southeast Asia through flight dispatch, trip support, ground handling and technical services covering avionics, engines and airframes. The company also represents Safran Helicopter Engines for civil and commercial customers.

The investment builds on a working relationship that has lasted about a decade. Planned cooperation includes student immersion, mentoring, practical training and employment opportunities for qualified WCC graduates. The companies also intend to expand their capabilities and develop aviation talent in the Philippines and the wider ASEAN region.

The agreement concerns the proposed acquisition rather than a completed transaction. The parties have not disclosed the deal value, closing conditions, regulatory approvals or expected completion date.
