Klatt Works Adds Realistic Smoke Training for SAVED Oxygen-Mask Display

Klatt Works is making realistic smoke training available for its Smoke Assured Vision Enhanced Display (SAVED), an oxygen mask with an integrated head-up display for cockpit emergencies. Presented during NBAA-BACE 2026, the capability is intended to help flight crews practise accessing essential flight information when smoke obscures instruments and other visual references in the cockpit.

Realistic smoke scenarios are difficult to reproduce in conventional simulator training. The SAVED system places a display inside the oxygen mask, allowing pilots to retain access to flight information while wearing the mask during a smoke emergency. The arrangement is designed for situations in which cockpit visibility is degraded but crews must continue flying and complete a landing.

The training capability extends the system’s use beyond emergency equipment familiarisation by enabling crews to operate with the mask-mounted display under restricted-visibility conditions. It could support airline and professional flight-crew training focused on instrument access, workload and procedures during smoke or fire events.

The available information does not specify whether the capability is being offered as a standalone product, a simulator integration or a customer delivery. Klatt Works has not disclosed pricing, simulator-platform compatibility, delivery timing or additional technical details for the smoke-generation and display-training setup.
