TAAG Returns to Normal Schedule After Maintenance Technicians’ Strike

TAAG Angola Airlines has resumed its normal flight schedule after the first phase of a maintenance-technicians’ strike, which ran from 11 to 15 October. The airline operated 186 of 188 scheduled flights during the five-day stoppage, achieving a completion rate of more than 98% and average on-time performance of 84%. The verified update does not confirm the reported return to service of a Boeing 737-700QC after approximately 14 months on the ground.

TAAG activated an operational-continuity plan during the strike to maintain essential services and limit disruption to passengers. Only two scheduled flights were cancelled during the period, while the airline reported that all operated services met applicable technical, operational and safety requirements.

The maintenance technicians’ union has issued notice for further strike periods from 6 to 10 November, 5 to 10 December and 19 to 23 December. TAAG has kept negotiations open with the union, but no reliable information currently identifies the 737-700QC involved in the reported reactivation, its registration, maintenance history, return date or first post-storage flight. The aircraft claim therefore requires direct confirmation from TAAG or a specialist aviation-data source before publication as verified news.
