Embraer delivers first E175 with new RECARO seats to American Airlines

Embraer has delivered the first E175 equipped with new-generation RECARO passenger seats to American Airlines in São José dos Campos, Brazil. The aircraft is the first in American’s regional fleet to receive the seats and makes the carrier the first US airline to introduce them on the E175, as deliveries continue under the airline’s major order for the type.

The slimline seats are designed to provide more personal space and knee room without reducing cushioning or passenger comfort. American is incorporating the aircraft into a broader cabin-modernisation programme intended to bring its American Eagle regional operation closer to the experience offered on mainline flights and improve consistency across its network.

The programme also covers existing E170, E175, CRJ700 and CRJ900 aircraft, with upgrades including seat power and high-speed Wi-Fi. However, there is no indication that E175s already in service will be retrofitted with the new RECARO seats.

The delivery forms part of Embraer’s continuing development of the E175 platform, including efforts to align aspects of its cabin experience more closely with the newer E2 family.
