Ryanair plans to station additional aircraft at airports in southwestern Germany and launch more routes, focusing on Memmingen, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and Friedrichshafen. The airline views the three locations as more cost-competitive than many other German airports, while its wider domestic strategy includes reducing capacity at larger sites and withdrawing from Bremen.
Details of the additional aircraft, destinations, frequencies and launch dates are expected in the coming days. Measures already outlined include a 12% capacity increase at Memmingen, new routes from Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and Ryanair’s first winter services from Friedrichshafen.
For summer 2027, Ryanair has also opened two routes from Memmingen to Seville and Varna, and two from Friedrichshafen to Bari and Porto. The expansion contrasts with planned reductions in Hamburg and Berlin, while Leipzig/Halle and Dresden will remain outside the airline’s network. The changes indicate a selective redistribution of capacity towards lower-cost regional airports rather than uniform growth across Germany.
