Ondas missile protection system certified for Bombardier Global 7500

Ondas has completed installation and European Union Aviation Safety Agency certification of its Airborne Missile Protection System on a Bombardier Global 7500. Developed by BIRD Aerosystems, the system incorporates directional infrared countermeasures and enables the large-cabin business jet to operate with certified protection against man-portable air-defence systems and other infrared-guided missile threats.

AMPS combines missile warning, threat detection and confirmation, tracking, and countermeasure functions in a single suite. EASA certification confirms that the installation meets applicable European airworthiness requirements and can form part of the Global 7500’s certified configuration.

BIRD Aerosystems, acquired by Ondas in March, developed the system. The approval adds the Global 7500 to the high-value and VVIP aircraft platforms equipped with Ondas airborne missile-protection technology, extending the company’s market beyond military and specialised government aircraft to large-cabin business aviation.

Ondas has not identified the aircraft operator or customer. The company has also not disclosed the aircraft registration, installation location, certification approval number, system cost or delivery timetable, and has not specified whether Bombardier participated in the installation or certification process.
