Norse Atlantic to provide two Boeing 787-9s for PIA UK–Pakistan services

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will use two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners provided by Norse Atlantic Airways under an ACMI agreement signed on 9 October 2026. Operations are expected to begin in early November on direct long-haul services linking multiple destinations in Pakistan and the United Kingdom, although the routes and frequencies have not been disclosed.

Norse will supply the aircraft, flight crews, maintenance and insurance, allowing PIA to add capacity without providing those operating resources itself. The agreement is expected to introduce Boeing 787 Dreamliners to Pakistan’s passenger market for the first time.

PIA chief executive Amir Hayat described the UK as an important market and said the additional aircraft would expand capacity and passenger choice for the large Pakistani community there. Norse chief executive Eivind Roald linked the deal to the airline’s strategy of redeploying aircraft through further ACMI opportunities.

The contract gives Norse another use for its 12-aircraft Boeing 787-9 fleet as it reduces its reliance on scheduled low-cost transatlantic flying and increases its focus on ACMI operations. Financial terms, the agreement’s duration, aircraft registrations, cabin configuration and the precise airports to be served were not disclosed.
