Palm Springs Air Museum To Open Walt Disney’s Restored Plane for Tours

The Palm Springs Air Museum will open Walt Disney’s restored Grumman Gulfstream I to the general public through a limited series of evening tours, beginning on 17 October. The aircraft, known as “The Mouse” or “Mickey Mouse One”, has been displayed at the Palm Springs, California, museum since 2022. The new programme is the first opportunity for non-D23 members to enter its restored cabin.

Each approximately two-hour experience at the museum, located at 745 N. Gene Autry Trail, includes a guided interior tour, light refreshments and a presentation by a speaker connected with the aircraft or Walt Disney Co. The 17 October session will feature Mark Malone, a former captain of Walt Disney Productions’ Gulfstream I and a historical consultant to the restoration, alongside Ed Ovalle of the Walt Disney Archives.

Four further sessions are scheduled for 16 January, 20 February, 6 March and 3 April 2027. Admission is $65 for the general public and $50 for Palm Springs Air Museum members. Children aged 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult.

Disney acquired the aircraft in 1963, and Walt Disney used it while developing plans associated with Walt Disney World. Disney restored the exterior before the aircraft moved to Palm Springs, while the museum and Phoenix Air recreated the cabin’s 1960s appearance. Visitors without an interior-tour ticket can continue to view the aircraft and a Walt Disney Archives display during regular museum hours.
