Lessor Avolon orders 110 Airbus aircraft, including 35 A330neos

Dublin-based lessor Avolon has placed a firm order for 110 Airbus aircraft, comprising 35 A330-900 wide-body jets and 75 A320neo Family aircraft. The purchase is intended to support the long-term fleet requirements of its airline customers and forms part of a wider 250-aircraft commitment from Airbus and Boeing.

The Airbus order increases Avolon’s direct commitments for the A330-900 to 114 aircraft and takes its cumulative A320 Family orders to approximately 650. The lessor also has options for a further 100 unspecified Airbus aircraft.

The wider commitment includes 140 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and is Avolon’s largest order from either manufacturer. If completed, the transactions will increase its total firm aircraft commitments to 749, in addition to 561 aircraft already owned. Airbus and Avolon have not disclosed delivery schedules, although the orderbook is expected to extend into the next decade.

The firm orders remain subject to approval by shareholders of Bohai Leasing, which owns 70% of Avolon. Approval was expected before the end of October 2026.
