Honeywell has expanded its FMS guided visual database to include departure procedures, extending a capability that previously covered visual procedures for arrivals. The update, reported by AIN, adds coded departure content to the navigation database used on equipped aircraft and is aimed at improving safety and comfort during visual operations.
The enhancement builds on Honeywell’s earlier FMS guided visual approach offering, which provided lateral and vertical guidance during visual manoeuvres. By moving departure procedures into the same database environment, the company broadens the operational use of the system without requiring a hardware change. The development is a content update rather than a new aircraft programme or avionics launch.
Honeywell’s guided visual procedures are designed to be loaded directly into the flight management system and flown either manually or with autopilot coupling where approved. The expanded database is intended to give crews a more repeatable path during visual flight phases, while retaining the flexibility of an FMS-based workflow. The latest addition indicates that Honeywell is continuing to widen the scope of its navigation database offerings for business aviation operators.
