LATAM Brazil takes first Embraer E195-E2 as network expansion begins

LATAM Airlines Brazil has taken delivery of its first Embraer E195-E2 at Embraer’s São José dos Campos facility, beginning the carrier’s introduction of the type into its domestic fleet. The aircraft is the first of a larger order for Brazil and is due to support route expansion as LATAM prepares to deploy the jet on thinner markets and new domestic destinations.

The first E195-E2s are expected to enter commercial service between November 2026 and March 2027. LATAM plans to use 14 of the aircraft in the initial phase across 42 routes, including eight new services and four destinations not previously served by the airline in Brazil: Cabo Frio, Ji-Paraná, Macaé and Rondonópolis.

The new fleet is central to LATAM’s effort to better match capacity with demand on lower-density routes while freeing Airbus aircraft for busier sectors. The airline also expects the Embraer jets to expand its network reach and improve flexibility in the Brazilian domestic market.

The first aircraft still must complete customs and nationalisation steps, cabin interior certification and approval by Brazil’s civil aviation regulator before entering service. LATAM previously used Embraer’s demonstration aircraft for evacuation drills, evaluation flights and crew training, cutting preparation time by about half while meeting safety requirements.
