Japan Airlines will reopen its renovated domestic lounges and dedicated security checkpoint in the North Wing of Tokyo Haneda Airport’s Terminal 1 on 8 October, completing the latest phase of its premium departure-facility upgrade at the airport. The former Diamond Premier Lounge has been renamed the JAL First Class Lounge, while the refreshed lounge areas are designed to support dining, relaxation, work and families before departure.
The North Wing project follows the reopening of dedicated check-in counters on 24 July, extending a staged refresh of JAL’s domestic premium facilities rather than a single terminal-wide closure. The airline has indicated that the South Wing lounges, priority counters and security facilities will be renovated next, with work expected to proceed progressively after the North Wing phase finishes.
The Haneda changes are part of JAL’s broader domestic service update and are aimed at first-class and elite domestic travellers using one of the carrier’s most important Tokyo hubs. The revamped First Class Lounge has also been enlarged, while the adjoining lounge space has been reorganised to better separate dining, work and rest areas. JAL’s rollout at Haneda has been scheduled in phases since January, allowing premium operations to continue while individual facilities are taken out of service in turn.
