Aviation fuel prices hit six-month high in September

Aviation International News reported that jet fuel prices reached a six-month peak in September, as ongoing Middle East supply disruption continued to tighten the market. The rise is feeding direct operating-cost pressure across business aviation and airlines, with fuel expenses influencing fares, surcharges and route economics.

GlobalAir’s latest fuel market report points in the same direction, showing that the September national average for Jet A finalised at $7.99 per gallon, its third record high of the year and higher than the previous peak set in May. The report also placed blended sustainable aviation fuel at a national average of $10.23 in September, underscoring the broad strength in fuel pricing across aviation segments.

Wholesale prices peaked in mid-September before retail jet fuel continued climbing into early October, suggesting that FBO and airport buyers have yet to see meaningful relief. The pattern reflects a constrained supply environment rather than a one-off price spike, with elevated costs continuing to affect flight departments and scheduled carriers operating on thinner margins.
