Lufthansa Group will expand its Japan schedule for summer 2027 with the return of Frankfurt–Nagoya and the launch of daily Frankfurt–Tokyo Narita services from late March. Both routes will be operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft in Allegris layout, while SWISS will also increase Zurich–Tokyo Narita flying, lifting the group’s Japan offering to as many as 50 weekly flights across four destinations.
Lufthansa will resume Frankfurt–Nagoya on 29 March 2027 with three weekly frequencies, followed by daily Frankfurt–Tokyo Narita service from 28 March 2027. The two routes will join the group’s existing daily Frankfurt and Munich services to Tokyo Haneda, strengthening the carrier’s long-haul presence in Japan.
The 787-9s on the new services will feature 28 business-class seats, 28 premium economy seats and 231 economy seats. Lufthansa Group linked the expansion to sustained demand and Japan’s role as a key market. Chief commercial officer Dieter Vranckx said the additional capacity and Nagoya return will broaden customer choice and support diversification of the intercontinental network.
SWISS will raise Zurich–Tokyo Narita to as many as seven weekly flights, extending the group’s multi-carrier approach in Japan. Together with Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, Osaka and Nagoya, the network will give Lufthansa Group one of its strongest Japan schedules for the 2027 summer season.
