Flybondi’s operator, FB Líneas Aéreas S.A., has filed for preventive creditor protection in Argentina after the low-cost carrier was effectively grounded for 57 days and reduced to a fleet of just three aircraft. The case was assigned to Buenos Aires Commercial Court No. 24, but the court had not yet ruled on whether to formally open the proceeding.
The filing gives the airline a chance to renegotiate heavy debts under judicial supervision rather than move straight into liquidation. It follows months of operational collapse marked by widespread cancellations, layoffs, passenger claims and enforcement actions by creditors and Argentine authorities. Reports place the last flight in early August, leaving the carrier with no commercial services for nearly two months.
The court process is now the key test for whether Flybondi can stabilise its finances and rebuild operations. The restructuring effort comes as the company faces a sharply weakened network, reduced capacity and mounting claims from suppliers, employees and state bodies, all of which have intensified pressure on one of Argentina’s best-known low-cost airlines.
