Wizz Air will open new bases in Madrid and Valencia in November, adding four Airbus A321neo aircraft to support a combined network of 50 routes in Spain. The expansion also includes a third Spanish base planned for Santiago de Compostela in December, as the low-cost carrier pushes deeper into one of its key growth markets.
Valencia is due to start operations on 2 November, followed by Madrid on 3 November. A base at Santiago de Compostela is scheduled for 17 December and will be Wizz Air’s third in Spain. The airline plans to deploy one aircraft there and add seven routes, including five domestic and two international services.
From Madrid, the network will include Bilbao, Asturias, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago de Compostela and Pisa. Valencia will be linked with Santiago de Compostela, Asturias, Santander, Bilbao, Palma de Mallorca and Naples. More than 150 cabin crew and pilots will be recruited to support the new Spanish operation.
Spain has become a central market for Wizz Air’s wider growth strategy, with the carrier positioning the expansion as part of a broader increase in capacity and connectivity. The airline carried 68.6 million passengers in 2025 and is targeting 80 million in 2026, following a strong summer season and high load factors.
