Ryanair carried 20.1 million passengers in September, up 4% from 19.4 million a year earlier, as the airline maintained a 94% load factor and operated more than 111,700 flights during the month. The Irish carrier’s rolling 12-month passenger total reached 215.1 million, reflecting continued traffic growth despite significant operational disruption.
More than 1,000 flights were cancelled in September amid a combination of air traffic control problems, Belgian controller strikes and disruption linked to Mount Etna in Sicily. The cancellations did not prevent the group from holding its seat occupancy steady, with load factor unchanged from a year earlier.
The latest figures place Ryanair’s performance in line with a broader trend of resilient passenger demand across Europe’s low-cost market. The monthly traffic update is an operational snapshot rather than a fleet or route development, but it highlights how the carrier has continued to expand volumes while managing recurring ATC and weather-related disruption.
