Pegasus Airlines has completed its acquisition of Czech Airlines and the Smartwings Group after receiving the required regulatory approvals and meeting closing conditions. The deal brings together the Turkish low-cost carrier and the Czech-based group, whose combined fleet now exceeds 175 aircraft and whose order book includes 140 more jets.
Smartwings will continue to operate under its existing brands, with no immediate changes to day-to-day operations, customer relations or service delivery. The ownership change follows Pegasus’s earlier agreement to buy Czech Airlines and Smartwings for about €154 million, a transaction that expanded the airline’s footprint in Central and Eastern Europe.
The closing comes after Czech antitrust clearance, which reportedly included remedies tied to summer slots on the Prague-Antalya route. Smartwings, the largest Czech airline, operates across several Central European markets and serves around 80 destinations in 20 countries, while Pegasus flies to 161 destinations in 57 countries. The combined platform gives the group a larger base in both low-cost and leisure travel.
