Stratolaunch has acquired a Boeing 777-200ER to expand the carrier fleet supporting its Talon-A autonomous, reusable hypersonic test vehicles. Based in Mojave, California, the new widebody will be modified for air launch from its fuselage, with completion expected in 2027.
The 777 becomes the third carrier aircraft in Stratolaunch’s fleet, joining Roc and Spirit of Mojave, a modified Boeing 747-400. The company expects the larger fleet to raise flight capacity by 35%, improve global deployment flexibility and allow parallel missions as demand for reusable hypersonic test flights increases.
The aircraft is not expected to enter service immediately and will remain out of operational use until modification work is finished. Stratolaunch is continuing to scale its flight-test infrastructure around Talon-A as it looks to support a higher mission cadence and broader deployment options for customers.
