Malaysia Aviation Group has signed a sale and purchase agreement to acquire Sepang Aircraft Engineering from Airbus, taking ownership of the Kuala Lumpur-based maintenance, repair and overhaul business. The transaction, tied to MAG’s Long-Term Business Plan 3.0, is designed to expand engineering capacity, add Airbus A320-family expertise and broaden the group’s third-party maintenance revenue.
Sepang Aircraft Engineering currently operates as a wholly owned Airbus subsidiary at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and brings a dedicated paint hangar and specialist component-repair capability to MAG’s MAB Engineering arm. The acquisition would give MAG a larger integrated aviation services platform and strengthen its ability to serve airline customers beyond its own operations across ASEAN and other markets.
The deal remains subject to customary conditions, including approval from Malaysia’s Civil Aviation Authority, and the purchase price was not disclosed. Completion is targeted for 2027. MAG will work with SAE, the regulator and other stakeholders to secure the required approvals and complete the transfer.
