Fly2Galicia, the new Santiago de Compostela-based virtual airline and tour operator, is under political and public scrutiny before its planned December launch after questions emerged over charter operator Flyyo’s past flights linked to Gaza and Palestinian evacuations from Israel. The start-up still intends to begin operations on 1 December with eight charter routes from Santiago, using Flyyo aircraft for the programme.
The network is set to include services from Santiago to Munich, Brussels, Milan, Prague, Venice, Zaragoza, Alicante and Granada. Fly2Galicia has rejected any direct or indirect involvement in the disputed Flyyo operations, arguing that those flights took place before any contractual relationship began.
Spain’s consumer affairs minister Pablo Bustinduy has called for scrutiny of whether embargo rules relating to Israel could apply. The issue has already drawn criticism in Galicia and prompted local-government explanations about how the Flyyo relationship was established, but no formal regulatory action or cancellation has been reported so far.
